I already went out exploring with some other Fulbrights (ETAs). We got some Malaysian food for dinner and explored the city blocks near our hotel. It is definitely HOT here. And insanely humid. My hair looks like an afro. No worries though!
I am not too tired. I slept well on all my flights. I am trying to stay up until at least 10 tonight so I can adjust to this time zone . I took an amazingly hot shower...which is a luxury I will be going without after orientation. The hotel is very air-conditioned so I am in my sweats and jacket right now. I am feeling very calm as I start this journey. So far, I have met some incredibly interesting, kind people. All the other ETAs seem open-minded and excited! I am very enthusiastic that my time here will open my mind and heart. I am so blessed to have this opportunity.
Every Malaysian I have met so far speaks wonderful English. But of course we are in the capital so English may not be as widely spoken elsewhere in the country.
I just can't believe I am actually here. Tomorrow I will learn all about my program and about the culture. I will keep you updated, although I will not have as much free time after tonight. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. God bless!
